Memorial Day Dedication at a2000greetings
MEMORIAL DAYMemorial day is celebrated on the last Monday in May.
In Memory Of Our Country's Heros
"In Memory of our Honored Dead. Never taking freedom for granted. A Memorial Day dedication page. Giving thanks to all the men and women who bravely gave their lives for their country. Thanks for all your courageous acts and nobility of character. For keeping us safe. And thanks to our service men and woman past and present. Thank you."
Why We Wear Red Poppies
This Memorial Day tradition was inspired by by Moina Michael and her 1915 poem. Why We Wear Red Poppies
We cherish too, the Poppy red,
That grows on fields where valor led,
In seems to signal to the skies,
That blood of heroes never dies.
The belief in the possibility of a short decisive war appears to be one of the most ancient and dangerous of human illusions. Robert Lynd (1879-1949) Anglo-Irish essayist, journalist
Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our English dead!;
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man;
As modest stillness and humility:;
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,;
Then imitate the action of the tiger;;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,;
Disguise fair nature with hard-favored rage;;
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect.;
King Henry the Fifth (1598-1600), Act: III, Scene: i, Line: 1;
William Shakespeare (1564-1616);
The Star Spangled Banner ... By Francis Scott Key
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country should leave us no more! Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave from the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Just A Common Soldier By: A. Lawrence Vaincourt
He was getting old and paunchy and his hair was falling fast,
And he sat around the Legion, telling stories of the past
Of a war that he had fought in and the deeds that he had done,
In his exploits with his buddies; they were heroes, every one.
And tho' sometimes, to his neighbors, his tales became a joke,
All his Legion buddies listened, for they knew whereof he spoke.
But we'll hear his tales no longer for old Bill has passed away,
And the world's a little poorer, for a soldier died today.
He will not be mourned by many, just his children and his wife,
For he lived an ordinary and quite uneventful life.
Held a job and raised a family, quietly going his own way,
And the world won't note his passing, though a soldier died today.
When politiciains leave this earth, their bodies lie in state,
While thousands note their passing and proclaim that they were great.
Papers tell their whole life stories, from the time that they were young,
But the passing of a soldier goes unnoticed and unsung.
Is the greatest contribution to the welfare of our land
A guy who breaks his promises and cons his fellow man?
Or the ordinary fellow who, in times of war and strife,
Goes off to serve his Country and offers up his life?
A politician's stipend and the style in which he lives
Are sometimes disproportionate to the service that he gives.
While the ordinary soldier, who offered up his all,
Is paid off with a medal and perhaps, a pension small.
It's so easy to foget them for it was so long ago
That the old Bills of our Country went to battle, but we know
It was not the politicians, with their compromise and ploys,
Who won for us the freedom that our Country now enjoys.
Should you find yourself in danger, with your enemies at hand,
Would you want a politician with his ever-shifting stand?
Or would you prefer a soldier, who has sworn to defend
His home, his kin and Country and would fight until the end?
He was just a common soldier and his ranks are growing thin,
But his presence should remind us we may need his like again.
For when countries are in conflict, then we find the soldier's part
Is to clean up all the troubles that the politicians start.
If we cannot do him honor while he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage at the ending of his days.
Perhaps just a simple headline in a paper that would say,
Our Country is in mourning, for a soldier died today.
Just A Common Soldie A. Lawrence Vaincourt
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain.
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am the morning hush.
I am the graceful rush
of beautiful birds in circling flight.
I am the star shine of the night.
I am the flowers that bloom.
I am in a quiet room.
I am the birds that sing.
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die."
Mary Frye, Baltimore MD, Circa 1933
MEMORIAL DAY DEDICATIONYou know we will be checking out the parades, memorial speeches and ceremonies, decorating the grave with flowers and flags. And our Memorial Day tradition of family picnics!
November 19, 1863, a cemetery was dedicated for the dead of the Battle of Gettysburg at which the key speaker was the famous orator Edward Everett. Among the notiaries who attended this solemn event was the then president of these United States, Abraham Lincoln. He spoke of the distress of a nation but most importantly of the debt owed to those who fell to the price of war.
The Gettysburg Address2
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth,
upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty,
and dedicated to the proposition that
"all men are created equal."
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether
that nation, or any nation so conceived, and so dedicated, can
long endure. We are met on a great battle field of that
war. We come to dedicate a portion of it, as a final resting
place for those who died here, that the nation might live.
This we may, in all propriety do. But, in a larger sense, we can not
dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow, this ground --
The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have
hallowed it, far above our poor power to add or detract.
The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here;
while it can never forget what they did here.
It is rather for us, the living, we here be dedicated to the
great task remaining before us -- that, from these honored dead
we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here,
gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly
resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that
the nation, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government
of the people by the people for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
MEMORIAL DAY REMEMBERINGBorn of glory and always free THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER
He was a brother, a father, a husband, and most of all a soldier.
He had humility of heart, pride of country and the courage of bolder.
In unmarked grave, known only to God, he lies, yet a son of freedom known to all.
He fell to eternity on the battle ground as he rose to heed his country's call.
They were our children, our beloved ones, who gave their lives so galantly.
Fighting for freedom on distant shore, keeping our country proud and free.
A memorial tribute to every soldier, let all Americans observe this day
Embracing our wariors upon this land and remebering those still far away.
By Marie A. Schnieder

One of my favorite things about being an Internet Entrepreneur is that I can literally wake up in the morning with an idea for a new product and have it become a reality by the afternoon. Or I can find new ways to promote an existing product. Or I can join a new affiliate program or pursue a joint venture. Every time I repeat this process I create a new stream of income to add to my existing revenue base.
